PlayStation VR Will Get More AAA Games, Sony Reiterates

Sony doubles down on its commitment to the platform.

There has always been doubt about whether or not the PlayStation VR will be a viable purchase in the long run. Yes, it is the cheapest VR headset, and yes, it doesn’t require that you own a high end gaming PC to be able to run it- but Sony doesn’t exactly have the best track record with supporting its peripherals and hardware beyond its flagship game consoles.

However, this past E3, Sony showed a commitment to the platform, announcing a plethora of games for it, some indie, and some AAA, including, to everyone’s surprise, Skyrim. And speaking at the GameStop Expo in  Las Vegas, Vice President of Marketing Asad Qizilbash doubled down on Sony’s dedication to the platform and format.

He said Sony will be bringing out the big guns in their support of the system, noting that while smaller indie games will be coming to it, larger AAA titles, like Resident Evil 7 and Farpoint will come to the platform too. At the same time, he also noted that Sony doesn’t force developers to work on the headset, because he thinks VR games come out best when they are borne out of passion and creativity instead of compulsion.

All of this sounds good- and I do want to see some more major VR projects. Something like DanganRonpa, or Uncharted, could benefit greatly from VR, I think…
