This year is Pokemon’s 20th anniversary- and we already know of some ways that Nintendo is planning to celebrate the anniversary of its biggest franchise. New games, re-releases of older games, re-releases of the classic movies, releases of expansions to the TCG, new merchandize, making event Pokemon available to wider audiences for the first time ever, and more.
And just to ensure that everybody, not just series fans, but all those millions of fans of the saga who may not keep up with it anymore, but can still identify a Pikachu from a Charizard, knows of the occasion, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company aired a brand new, nostalgic commercial for the series’ 20th anniversary during the Super Bowl today.
“For 20 years, the Pokemon world has inspired fans to train hard and have fun,” said J.C. Smith, senior director of Consumer Marketing at The Pokemon Company International. “This ad is reflective of that passion, and I can’t think of a bigger stage to share this story than the Super Bowl.”
You can check out the brand new advertisement for yourself below. Meanwhile, here I am holding out hope that Pokemon Z or Pokemon 7 will be announced soon.
