Nintendo’s first Pokemon title for the Switch is out today with Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! As remakes to Pokemon Yellow, the Switch titles incorporate several mechanics from Pokemon GO as well, such as motion controlled Poke Ball throwing, which replaces random encounters and wild Pokemon battles. Check out the overview trailer below for more information.
Along with featuring the original 151 Pokemon, Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! also include numerous trainers to fight (including 151 Master Trainers). Gym Leaders are also available to take on, along with Team Rocket in classic Pokemon fashion. You can even have someone else hop in with a second Joy-Con for co-op Pokemon battles.
It’s worth noting that motion controls aren’t necessary to enjoy the game, but the Switch’s Pro Controller doesn’t seem to be supported. Those who are expecting “true” successor to the handheld Pokemon games shouldn’t worry. An eighth generation Pokemon title is currently in development for the Switch and is expected to release in 2019.
