Games retail giant GameStop revealed its earnings report for the quarter ending on October 29th. While it noted a 2.8 percent year-over-year drop in global sales due to some games under-performing at the tail end of October, it did reveal some of the best performing games of the year.
As noted by GameSpot, it was Pokemon Sun and Moon that performed best for the full year with pre-orders the highest they’ve been for any game at GameStop for the last five years. Interestingly enough, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare under-performed which is in line with reports that it sold 50 percent less than Black Ops 3 in the first week for the UK. That being said, it’s still topping the charts for the region.
PS4 Pro sales are off to a “strong start” and PlayStation VR is doing quite well with units staying on shelves at a 10 day average. Then there’s the Nintendo Switch – about 27 percent of GameStop’s PowerUp Rewards program members have plans to purchase the console. Paul Raines is similarly gung-ho about the platform, believing it can be a “game-changer”.
