The Nintendo Switch will be out next year and while we’ve seen a short trailer on how it will work with popular franchises like Mario, Zelda and Mario Kart, there’s still a whole lot we don’t know about it. Nevertheless, GameStop CEO Paul Raines believe it could be a “game-changer”.
Speaking during the recent earnings report for the retailer, Raines said,, “The Nintendo Switch, which I played at Nintendo a few weeks ago – we believe could be another game-changer” and noted that it could “expand the audience for gaming.”
The second point could likely be attributed to the platform’s tablet-like nature, catering to the ever-growing base of mobile users. That being said, it will be interesting to see if Nintendo can combine its handheld success with this hybrid home console/tablet, especially since the Nintendo 3DS won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
In the meantime, pre-order interest in Switch is fairly good according to GameStop and has been compared to the Xbox One’s during a similar time frame. Nintendo Switch releases in March 2017. For what the rumoured launch line-up appears to be, head here.
