We know Nintendo intends to sell a lot of Nintendo Switch units this year- 20 million of them apparently. What hasn’t been clear so far is exactly how they are looking to do that. While the announced lineup for the system this year so far has been great, it doesn’t seem to be of the kind that would move that many units, right?
The one thing that could change that is Pokemon. We already know Pokemon is supposed to be coming to the Switch- but its exact release timing has been the subject of intense speculation. Nintendo has maintained it will be “2018 or later”- which is a rather open window to have.
However, now we have another piece of evidence that indicates that Pokemon may be releasing on the Switch this year- or at least, that Nintendo intends for it to release this year. Apparently, it has been listed on a Nintendo Europe survey as having a 2018 release date- as has been Bayonetta 3. While you need to remember that this is not a confirmation (and that even if it is an indication of their plans, plans can change), it is an interesting listing nonetheless, because games such as Metroid Prime 4 are not on it. So it’s not even as though they went ahead and put every single announced Switch game on the survey, there seems to be some method to it.
Will Pokemon and Bayonetta be coming to Switch this year? We don’t know- yet. Hopefully we have some more clarity on it by the time E3 rolls around.
