PS Plus Subscriptions Won’t be Required for Upcoming Online Multiplayer Weekend

Sony has announced that PS Plus will not be required for online multiplayer in any game during the free weekend from December 18th to 19th.

PS Plus has long been an essential requirement for PlayStation players to enjoy multiplayer experiences on the platform, and while free-to-play games can be enjoyed without the subscription, players still require an active subscription for paid games with multiplayer elements.

Recently, however, Sony has announced that for its upcoming online multiplayer weekend, which runs from December 18 to December 19, players will be able to enjoy the online multiplayer components of all games, regardless of whether or not they’re free-to-play, without a PlayStation Plus subscription. This will include the likes of Grand Theft Auto 5, NBA 2K22, and Call of Duty: Vanguard.

It’s not as big of a deal given the fact that it is Holiday season after all, but it is certainly great that all fans will be able to enjoy these games without having to pay up for subscription fees.

In somewhat related news, Sony is rumored to be gearing up for its own take on Xbox Game Pass competitor, codenamed Spartacus- read more on that through here.
