PS Vita Revision Supports Micro USB Charging

Sony embracing industry standards over proprietary formats? What crazy alternate dimension is this?

The PS Vita is a hell of a handheld, but it’s insistence on proprietary formats- proprietary memory solutions, proprietary cables- is frustrating, and it has held many off from buying a seriously impressive piece of gaming kit.

Well, the new Vita revision seems to be fixing a lot of those problems- we already know, for example, it comes with 1GB of on board storage (enough to get you started), but it also does not use a proprietary cable for charging any more either, instead using the industry standard micro USB pin.

This new comes to us directly from Sony Worldwide Studios kingpin Yoshida himself: “You’ll be happy to know PS Vita 2000 can charge with a smartphone charger with micro USB,” he tweeted.

Do you already own a Vita? Are you planning on picking up the new revision? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned for more Vita coverage.
