In reply to jb223. Nope, games can use the full set of 8GB RAM minus the overhead of the hypervisor OS (about 100MB from what I can see here). The hypervisor switches data between the different OS's blazingly fast through the 4 move engines.

Lol, ps4’s 5 gb. Are you stupid? both have 8gb ram, but sony’s os only use 1gb to operate while xbox uses 3. So sony has more ram and it’s faster. Also, ddr5 is not a thing, its gddr5, which is derived from ddr3. I stopped reading after that because the author obviously has knows nothing about the hardware specs of either console, and is just pulling things out of his ass.

but the difference is how the devices utilize that ram….first off, from what i understand, gddr5 is better for gaming, secondly, xbox’s ram will be split evenly from what i’ve read, 1/3 for the os, 1/3 for the kinect, & the final 1/3 for gaming, whereas ps4 will devote the majority of it’s horsepower for gaming with a small amount utilized for the os….ultimately it’s all right there in the cards if these figures from respected tech sites are to be believed, that sony’s machine is focussed more on games

Wow your PS4 RAM capacity is off PS4 will have 8GB of GDDR5 RAM,
512Mb of the PS4 RAM will go to OS & XboxOne 8GB GDDR3 Ram will have to share with 3 OS Microsoft stated 3GB of that RAM will go to OS.

Thats wrong they both have 8 gb of ram. The PS4 has 8GB of GDDR5 ram and Xbox One has 8GB of DDR3 ram
