PS4 Cross-Play Is Out Of Beta And Available To Developers Now

It seems the PS4 is finally ready to play with others, in theory.

Over the last couple of years, crossplay has become a big issue in the industry. It’s interesting to think about since just a decade ago the idea of crossplatform online play was basically unthinkable, but there’s been a lot of progress there thanks to big games like Fortnite pushing for crossplay. But Sony has been one of the holdouts on the issue, but that could be changing very soon.

As reported via Wired, Sony’s crossplay feature for the PS4 has exited beta. Not only that, but now it is something fully available for developers to utilize. Whether or not they will make use of it, of course, is up in the air. It seems to be available to use at least.

The next big title to be crossplay across all major platforms is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which releases later this month. Hopefully, it will open up a new and more consistent trend on crossplay.
