Well, it’s interesting: you caution someone against Friendly Dude, but I don’t see you saying anything to… well, ANY of the Xbox trolls in here. Isn’t that a little hypocritical of you, particularly since we’re in a PlayStation article, and they definitely posted before he did?

Trolling only causes harm if you let it. After all, a troll’s purpose is to get a response: you respond in a satisfactory manner, and they win. Your reactions seem to have allowed them to win; that’s honestly your fault, not theirs. Whether in sports, or gaming, or any other venue, there have always been trolls.

Not sure how you come to the conclusion that these athletes are overpaid, or how that makes it ape-like. That’s a leap of logic I can’t take with you.

The trolls of tennis are largely kept out by the rules of venues and the nature of the sport itself: you don’t really get to make noise during play, and play doesn’t begin until the venue is quiet. That said, hecklers still exist, and these trolls even manage to infiltrate (in my opinion) the most sacred of events: Wimbledon. They don’t last very long or have as much influence, but they exist; I don’t know rugby matches well enough to know what the fans do there, but I seriously doubt the “harmony” you speak of exists there.

What do you think “tangible results” means in this case?

Good that you don’t go around trolling. Wonderful for you; what does that have to do with those that DO? How does that impact the inevitable actions of those who will either criticize what they don’t have/like, or will lord what they do have/like over others? If you are above those actions, then the best thing to do is ignore them entirely and convince others to do the same; ACTING as if you’re above it all only makes you a target. Me? I’m not very good at ignoring trolls; if I want to do so, I have to literally block them. I imagine there are others like me out there, too.

The Falcon Heavy launch was nice. It was awesome to see everything go off without a hitch, and to watch the speed of that thing as it left continue to increase, even when they said this motor or that was powering down. Barring the cameras for the main core going down before it landed, I enjoyed the whole thing.

It is interesting that you used sport in your previous example, as I hate football for those reasons, and all the footballers are overpaid, thus making it an ape-like sport. I never said that you personally are ‘sad, pathetic individual’. That’s the great part about speaking in the third person tense, is that you can genralise things more easily.

Now if you look at sports like Rugby (a bit like American football, only you pass the ball backwards), tennis etc, there is harmony in the sport. Yes, there is competition, but very rarely it ends up in a big brawl. Trolling only incites hatred for each other, and never yields any tangible results.

I never go around looking for positive PS articles to spam with hatred, because there is no point to it, and quite often I’m interested in other things like programming, current events or even watching the Falcon Heavy launch, and seeing a Tesla being launched into space!

I’m curious: how would not trolling “contribute to gaming as a whole?” That sentence seems to imply that you believe that it somehow inherently contributes, but as much as I hate trolling, I don’t see it having any impact one way or the other.
