PS4 Firmware Update 1.70 With SHAREfactory Releasing on April 30th

You'll finally be able to disable HDCP for capturing through HDMI.

After initially revealing the latest firmware update 1.70 for PlayStation 4, which includes not only a long-awaited feature to disable HDCP to allow for capturing gameplay through HDMI (which should allow for third party Let’s Plays) but SHAREfactory as well, PlayStation EU has announced that it will be available on April 30th.

SHAREfactory is especially interesting because it allows for adjusting the length of videos captured. You can even edit it accordingly to add FX, transitions and much more. The disabling of HDCP means that we’ll see the Achievement Hunter crew mucking about in Let’s Plays for PS4 titles. Either way, everyone wins.

Are you looking forward to the firmware update to properly allow for picture-in-picture effects with commentary on your videos? Or are you looking forward to being able to capture footage through HDMI? Let us know in the comments below what you think and stay tuned for the full firmware notes next week.
