Sony may be slow on the uptake with major PlayStation 4 features and firmware updates, but when it does push out one, it pushes out many- so far, PS4 firmware updates have been big affairs, and it seems like the upcoming 2.50 update will be the same way.
A lot of features have been leaked to be in this update, and they have been backed up by beta tester leaks, as well as screenshots posted online (see above). So far, the new firmware update is believed to finally bring with it:
- Suspend/Resume
- OS level button remapping
- Higher quality SharePlay
- Some form of support for external HDDs (so far, the PS4 is the only console that lacks this- both, the Xbox One and Wii U have this)
- UI and menu changes
We still don’t know exactly how much of this will make it into the final release- this might just be speculation (and really, it does sound too good to be true). But we’ll keep you posted, as always.
