You know a firmware update is pretty big when it adds more features than were originally advertised. Take the newPS4 update 3.50, for example- it was already going to be a big one, adding in some long requested features, and making improvements all around. However, it seems like it adds even more features than were originally advertised.
Users have found that the new firmware update adds some long requested features that should, on the whole, make the PS4 experience significantly better. Among the unadvertised new features added by this new update are the ability for the PS4 to read external HDDs up to 4TB via USB as backup memory, as well as the return of the USB music player- making the media player on the PS4 far less useless.
Other features work as advertised, including the online friend notifications and the DailyMotion video sharing. There don’t seem to be any widespread reports of issues with this new update, so it seems to be a good firmware update all around- go ahead and download it.
