PS4 Firmware Update Incoming To Fix 2.50 Issues, Sony Looking To Provide Uncompressed PS4 Screens

A few updates regarding future PS4 firmware updates.

A few weeks ago, Microsoft launched a new firmware update for the Xbox One that allowed users to retrieve screenshots of their favorite video games in PNG format. Sony also provides a similar feature for their PlayStation 4 console but the image is heavily compressed since it provides the screenshots in JPEG format. However this may change in the future as a PlayStation developer is looking into this issue.

Toshimasa Aoki who works on adding new features to the PlayStation 4 platform has confirmed that he will be looking into adding this feature. Please note that this is not a confirmation and the feature may or may not making its way to the PlayStation 4. Regardless, one could at least hope that this feature may be added in the future given that the developer is finally looking into it.

Talking about updates, Tidux, an industry insider who has proved to be correct on numerous occasions regarding PS4 firmware updates and what not, has revealed that a new update is incoming for the PS4. The update will fix issues found in firmware update 2.50. What exactly it will fix and when it will be released is unknown at this point. May be it will be a minor patch, mostly a stability patch. As usual take this information with a grain of salt but Tidux has a solid track record so far.
