Thanks to a fantastic deal for the PS4, where you could pick the console up for an absurdly cheap and discounted price, it seems like it ended up selling far beyond what someone might have expected for a four year old console- in fact, in the UK, according to UKIE, it ended up having its second best Black Friday week ever- the only Black Friday week where it performed better was 2013, which makes total sense, since that was when the console launched.
But, all other Black Fridays since- 2014, 2015, 2016- have been eclipsed by the PS4’s performance in the UK this year. It’s flabbergasting, and it shows us just how much sustained demand there is for Sony’s new console at this point.
It will also be interesting to see how the PS4 did in other major markets of the world, especially in the US, which is where the Black Friday effect is the largest. I have no doubt that it will end up as the highest selling console of the month in the country when the new NPD report is out.
