Sony has dropped the price of the PlayStation 4 to £299.99 for the next five days in the UK. The offer is limited not just in its duration, but also in its availability- you can only avail of it if you purchase the system from Amazon, Argos, Game, Tesco and Very. Amazon, actually, is selling it for £289, should you be inclined to wait for it to be shipped to you.
This is, of course, not an official price drop, but it does mark the first time Sony has adjusted the PlayStation 4’s price downwards at all since the console originally launched in November 2013 (they briefly raised the price of the console in Canada to compensate for the weaker Canadian dollar). It comes on the heels of similarly aggressive price drops and bundles announced by Microsoft for the UK territory recently.
If you are hoping that something like this deal will be available in the US, or anywhere else, well, you’re out of luck. It seems to be a UK specific deal. Then again, the PS4 frequently gets some great bundles and unofficial drops, so it’s not like you won’t get an equally good or better deal some time in the future either.
