As has been the trend throughout the console generation, with very few exceptions, the PlayStation 4 managed to outsell the Xbox One again last month, during the NPD tracking period, to further add to its status as the top selling console in the United States of America. Currently, the PS4 leads over the competition worldwide, unlike last generation, when the Xbox 360 did better in some territories, and the PS3 in others.
“We would like to thank our fans and partners for making PlayStation 4 the top-selling hardware platform and the software sales leader in February, according to NPD,” Sony said in the statement that they released in response to the NPD report. “We continued to see strong year-over-year sales growth for PS4 hardware and software and are truly humbled by the support and enthusiasm from gamers. We will continue to deliver amazing gaming experiences with the upcoming launches of Ratchet & Clank, MLB The Show 16 and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.”
Indeed, the next few months promise to be fruitful for the PS4- with multiplats like Dark Souls 3 (which have a history of doing better on PlayStation over Xbox), and exclusives like Uncharted 4 and Ratchet and Clank launching, the console should probably be reasonably expected to continue ruling the roost for the foreseeable future.
