We have more rumours on Sony’s next-generation system, dubbed the “PS4”, and this time it’s from VGleaks who can be termed as credible based on their previous track record.
However, this is still a rumour and should be taken with a pinch of salt. There have been plenty of rumours which placed the specs of the PS4 at somewhere reasonable to mid-range current gen PC, and supposed to have 4GB of RAM.
This info that VGleaks has posted could be from an inside source as it looks like something Sony would definitely go for. Jailbroken videocard means something that doesn’t require drivers and can be custom coded but is something that is used commercially.
Both the PS3 and Xbox 360’s GPUs can be coded to the metal. Here’s what the site had to say:
“To inaugurate the new year we have some new info about the next generation console manufactured by Sony: Orbis. In this case we have the earlier roadmap.”
2011 June/July – PC with Win7 64-bit and a “jailbroken” ATI r9 graphics card
2011 Sept/Oct – PC with Win7 64-bit and a “jailbroken” ATI r10 graphics card
