Sony’s much awaited software update 2.00 for the PS4’s firmware, code-named “Masamune”, hasn’t quite had the most successful launch. Despite adding some much needed new features including themes and personalization, it’s been hit with numerous bugs and even caused some errors with the recent Evolve Big Alpha which led to the latter’s delay on the platform.
The worst glitch has been the Rest Mode bug which essentially caused issues with consoles that were waking up from Rest Mode. Since the console was unresponsive during the glitch, you would need to hard reset it to recover which either led to system date being deleted or consoles being bricked. Sony has promised to fix these glitches with today’s software update 2.01.
The Official PlayStation Twitter stated that, “PS4 software update 2.01 is rolling out today & will address issues some users have when powering on the system from Rest Mode.”
So stay tuned for the update and don’t mess about with your console until it’s available worldwide.
