PS4 Was The Top Selling Console In The US In February, According To NPD

The last month before the launch of the Nintendo Switch...

It looks like the PlayStation 4 took home another victory in February- Sony’s console was the highest selling console in America for the month, NPD’s newest report has revealed. The console managed to outsell the Xbox One, and Nintendo’s Wii U (which has now been officially discontinued).

Sony’s success in the month of February was more than well deserved- towards the end of January, the system got Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD, and Tales of Berseria, all of which are exclusive to it. It also got the only VR enabled version of Resident Evil 7. In February itself, the system got Nioh, Team Ninja’s scintillating action RPG, as well as Guerrilla’s superlative Horizon: Zero Dawn. This is not to mention multiplatform game releases in this period that it also got, which include For Honor and Sniper Elite 4.

In contrast, the Xbox One got said multiplatform releases, as well as Halo Wars 2– there simply wasn’t enough for most newcomers to pick the console for any reason whatsoever.

This is, of course, the last month before the Switch launches- presuming the Switch keeps up its launch momentum, NPD charts should be pretty interesting from this point on.
