March’s NPD numbers are out today, and there’s been some good news for everyone this month. On the software front, we already reported how third parties, Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft all saw victories- on the hardware front, too, it seems all three have something to write home about this month.
First, the number everyone cares about- yes, the PS4 was the highest selling console again in March, so congratulations to Sony for that. Nintendo, meanwhile, had the highest selling SKU in March, with the Neon Switch (sales of all PS4 SKUs exceed sales of all Switch SKUs, however). Finally, for Microsoft, Xbox One was the single largest driver of revenue growth in March, presumably due to the continued overperformance of the Xbox One X.
So, it was a pretty wholesome NPD all around- PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch all managed to do great and take home some trophies. If only every month was like this…
