PS5 Has Shipped 13.4 Million Units in its Lifetime

The console shipped 3.3 million units in the quarter ending September 30th with $5.86 billion revenue and $750 million in profit.

Sony has revealed its financial results for Q2 of fiscal year 2021 and confirmed that the PlayStation 5 shipped 3.3 million units in the three month period ending September 30th. This puts its lifetime shipments at 13.4 million units within its first year of launch. Sony reported over $5.86 billion in revenue and $750 million in profit for the quarter, making this the company’s biggest Q2 revenue ever.

The total number of Sony-published titles in the quarter was 7.6 million versus 12.8 million last year. Total number of games sold hit 76.4 million with a 62 percent software digital ratio. The PlayStation Network currently has 104 million monthly active users with spending $36.27 on average for the quarter (which is a 5.9 percent increase year-on-year).

Sony hasn’t made any changes to its fiscal year 2021 forecast with $27.10 billion in revenue and $3.04 billion in profit expected. It previously projected 45.2 million PS5 units sold by fiscal year 2022. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
