Whether or not the PS5 Pro is able to sell as well as the PS4 Pro did upon its release will be interesting to see, especially with the price at which it’s being sold, though based on what Sony says, it looks like the newly released mid-gen refresh has got off to a solid start.
Speaking during Sony’s recent quarterly financial briefing, president, CFO, and COO Hiroki Totoki revealed that the PS5 Pro’s pre-orders have actually been “slightly stronger” than what the PS4 Pro managed prior to its release in the same period (via Nikkei).
The PS4 Pro, of course, released at a price of $400 back in 2016, as opposed to the PS5 Pro releasing for $700 last week- though interestingly enough, Totoki has also said that the console’s high pricing and the criticism that it has received as a result haven’t had a negative impact on its sales thus far.
