We’ve already seen a partial specs list for the PS5, and it’s looking like an impressive piece of hardware as it is, but there’s a possibility that Sony might also be working on a variant of the console that’s even more powerful. While the PS4 Pro launched some years after the base PS4 did as a mid-generation refresh, Sony could go into next-gen with two variants of the PS5 launching simultaneously.
This comes to us from Japanese journalist Zenji Nishikawa, who recently stated during a livestream that Sony is also working on a PS5 Pro (via GamesRadar). According to Nishikawa, Sony intends to release both the base PS5 and its Pro equivalent model simultaneously, and believes that consumers are much more comfortable with multiple models of a single device. He doesn’t go into more detail about these rumours and where he gets his information, but considering how impressive the PS5’s specs seem already, it’ll be interesting to see what Sony could have in store with an even more powerful version of the console, if that is indeed something they’re working on.
There is, of course, no way to substantiate these rumours, so take them with a grain of salt. In related news, recent leaks suggested that Sony will be unveiling their next-gen plans in full in February 2020. If that ends up happening, maybe we’ll learn more about this then. Either way, stay tuned, and we’ll let you know as soon as we know more about this.
