The PS5 Pro has been a controversial piece of hardware for as long as everyone has known about its existence, and nothing about it has been more controversial than its price. Priced at $700 as a console that many have said probably doesn’t even need to exist, the PS5 Pro has been widely lambasted by critics- though interestingly enough, that doesn’t seem to have impacted sales.
Spotted by @Genki_JPN on Twitter, Sony president, CFO, and COO Hiroki Totoki said during Sony’s recent financial report that the console’s sales haven’t actually been impacted by its pricing, especially with the device being geared towards “hardcore” consumers.
“Hardcore users are the target of this hardware,” he said. “In terms of the pricing many people made different comments on that, but pricing on PS5 pro has not had a negative impact I don’t think.”
How exactly the PS5 Pro has sold in the early days following its launch last week is currently unknown, though we do know that its pre-order numbers were tracking higher than what the PS4 Pro managed in the same time period. Read more on that through here.
