PS5 Shipments Hit 21.7 Million Units Worldwide

The PS5 hits 21.7 million shipments worldwide, having shipped an additional 2.4 million units in the quarter ending June 30.

Most hardware on the market right now is facing supply shortages, which, of course, has resulted in slower sales than usual. The PS5 hasn’t been immune to that- though Sony’s console is still posting solid numbers, all things considered.

At its most recent quarterly financial briefing, Sony revealed that the PS5 has now shipped 21.7 million units worldwide as of June 30, 2022, having shipped an additional 2.4 million units in the first fiscal quarter of the financial year. That’s up from the 2.3 million units that Sony shipped in the first quarter of the previous fiscal year, 2021-22. Where sell-through numbers for the PS5 are concerned, those stood at over 20 million in early June.

Sony also confirms that it sold over 47.1 million units of software for PS5 and PS4 during the quarter, which is down year-over-year by 16.5 million units. Of those software sales, 79% were full game software digital downloads, which is up from 71% the previous year.
