PS5 Tops 92.2 Million Shipments Worldwide

Eight million PS5 consoles shipped in the quarter ending December 31st, 2025, while combined software sales reached 97.2 million.

As insane as it sounded for Sony to target 90 million PS5 consoles by the end of 2025, it actually ended up performing even better. In its latest financial results for the fiscal quarter ending December 31st, 2025, Sony announced 92.2 million shipments worldwide. During those three months, eight million consoles shipped, which is actually down 1.5 million year-over-year.

However, software sales on the PS5 and PS4 reached 97.2 million sales, up 1.3 million year-over-year, with first-party titles constituting 13.2 million of that total (up by 1.6 million). Which makes sense considering Sony had Ghost of Yōtei and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the former selling 3.3 million units in a little over a month since launch.

Overall, full game digital downloads contributed 76 percent to sales, an increase of two percent over the same period in 2024. PlayStation Network’s monthly active base increased by three million to 132 million users as of September 30th, 2025.

With Saros launching this April and Marvel’s Wolverine arriving later this year, Sony is sticking to its promise of “major single-player titles” yearly. With increased RAM prices, one must wonder whether Sony will raise the price of the PS5 or potentially delay its rumored next-gen PS6. Sony hasn’t commented on either, though, so stay tuned for updates.
