PS5 Will Be A High-End Console Priced At Under $500, Says Analyst

And it will launch by end-2020.

At this point, the PS5 launch is deemed impending. Multiple analysts have chipped in with what they expect the PS5 to be like, and when they think it might be launching, and now, another one has thrown his hat into the ring. In new analysis report, Ace Research Institute Analyst Hideki Yasuda suggested that the PS5 is due to launch at the end of 2020, which is in line with what others have been projecting tor a while now.

According to him, the PS5 will be a high end console, capable of running AAA games, and that it in fact will launch with multiple of those to push sales at launch. This one is a bit of an obvious prediction, because Sony is not about to ditch the console model that has made the PlayStation line so successful over the years. That said, he also predicted that the system will be less than $499, and be priced similarly to the PS4, which poses an interesting question—how high-end can the PS5 really be at that price? Or will Sony be willing to take a hit on each console sold?

As of right now, this is all just speculation anyway, and not much more than just idle musing. But it does pose some interesting questions about where Sony might choose to take its console business in the future (apart from implementing backward compatibility in some form, apparently).
