PS5 Will Be “World’s Fastest Console,” Sony Job Ad Claims

That SSD is working its magic.

Next-gen talk continues to heat up by the day, and with both the PS5 and the Xbox Scarlett getting closer and closer to their launch, that really doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Where the PS5 is concerned, Sony have revealed plenty of new things that their next-gen hardware will boast, from its 8 Core Zen 2 CPU to the fact that it will include an SSD, and all of it stuff that’s got people very excited.

And Sony definitely seems to have a lot of confidence in what these next gen specs will enable their new console to do. In a new job ad for Senior Cloud Engineer Manager (via ResetEra), Sony mentioned the PS5 directly, calling it “the world’s fastest console”. To be more specific, it invited applicants to join “an elite team that is super excited to launch the upcoming world’s fastest console (PS5) in 2020.”

Of course, we will have no way of knowing the validity of that statement until we’ve firmly seen what both, the PS5 and the Xbox Scarlett are capable of, but it does tell us that speed is something that Sony is focusing on with its new console, which is nothing if not excellent news.

We’ll be learning a lot more about the PS5 not too long from now. The console is out in Holiday 2020, and Sony says it will be unveiled in full next year. According to reports, that unveiling will happen in February.
