PS5 Will Have An “Unusually Expensive” Cooling System – Rumour

Reportedly, Sony are looking to correct a mistake from this generation.

The question of what price Sony will choose to sell the PS5 at has remained unanswered for a while – Sony themselves don’t seem too sure about what they’re going to decide – but recent report by Bloomberg painted a worrying picture for prospective buyers of the console, claiming that Sony was struggling to keep the console’s price low due to high productions costs.

The report goes into a bit more granular detail as well, and it seems like among the components inside of the machine, one that they’re reportedly spending an unexpected amount of money is the cooling system. As per the report, Sony wants to ensure “heat dissipation from the powerful chips housed inside the console isn’t an issue”, and has chosen to include an “unusually expensive” cooling system “at a few dollars per unit.”

Considering how notorious the PS4 has been for years for producing a ridiculous amount of noise with its cooling system, it’s not surprising that Sony is looking to take these criticisms into account while making improvements for the upcoming next-gen system.

In the same report, it was also mentioned that Sony has plans to launch a PSVR 2 after the PS5 has gone on sale. Read more on that through here.
