Rare Director of 16 Years Leaves Studio, Joins Sony Computer Entertainment

Another talented soul strikes out on his own.

Betrayal! Er, right? Well, considering that this is yet another story of a Rare veteran shifting to a new studio in search of loftier goals, it’s actually quite a good thing.

According to Eurogamer, such is the case with Rare director George Andreas, who has been with the company for 16 years and recently departed to join Sony Computer Entertainment Europe as its new creative director. He’ll be working out of the studio’s London office.

The amount of expertise that Andreas brings to the table will be of huge benefit to the series SCEE currently holds reign over, most especially Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet series considering his experience with Banjo Kazooie/Tooie and Kameo: Elements of Power.

Then again, he just may be helping out Guerrilla Games of the Killzone series as well, considering his experience with one of the most FPS games of all time, Goldeneye 007.

Either way, it’s a great day for Andreas because no more Kinect games!
