Resident Evil 2 Remake is Getting An Arcade Version Later This Year

It's time to experience Leon's harrowing first day on the job, Claire in tow, in a new way with some very attractive gimmicks in play.

Resident Evil 2 Remake’s success might have earned it a new lease of life as Bandai Namco Experience is gearing up to bring an arcade version of the game to select locations in Japan and Europe later this year.

As a remake of what is probably the worst first day at work in gaming history, Leon and Claire were brought to life quite well on modern hardware in this one, and it’s an adventure worth playing if you’ve hopped on with Requiem and want to see how the hatchet-wielding hunk got his start in the franchise. There’s a lot to like about the remake and getting to experience it in an entirely new way is definitely music to the ears of any Resident Evil fan.

The arcade version will have some fancy haptics on its guns, a floor that shakes things up, and even a machine that sprays the room with mist at all the right moments. There are also changes to a few cutscenes and enemy types to keep you on your toes if you’ve blazed a path through the game before. If you’re new to the franchise, we recommend taking some moral support along when it’s out.

It will begin with a test run at select locations before a bigger rollout across available regions, so keep your eyes peeled. Or you could wait for us to tell you about it. Until then, the trailer below is all we have for now. Alternatively, you can play the original, which is out now for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
