Team Ninja’s Rise of the Ronin will shower you with loot as you journey through the story and complete various missions. However, while equipping the weapons and armor with the higher numbers is good in the short term, certain weapons are a cut above and worth pursuing. Here are some of the best weapons and sub-weapons to seek out.
Best Weapons and Sub-Weapons
Weapon | Skills | Location |
---|---|---|
First Rate Bayonet | Attack increases at night and when performing a Flash Attack. Martial Skill Attack is also increased, and it has the Wise Doctor perk. | Defeat the Fugitive, Shirodayu Shiramine, in Hodogaya. |
Mother-of-Pearl Paired Swords | Increases Solo Attempt Attack by 14.8 percent. Violent Gale Attack also increases by 8.4 percent, and Ki consumption while guarding is reduced by 4.6 percent. Also has the Master Strategist perk. | Complete the mission, “This Cause of Mine”, in Shibo. |
Demon God’s Spear | Increases Blood Gauge by 2.7 percent (which means more attacking before using a Blade Flash). It also increases damage with Flash Attacks and combo attacks and has the Commanding Champion perk. | Located in the Westernmost part of Yoshida-Shinden in a locked building. Glide to the opening above to get inside. |
Ascetic’s Spear | Increased Attack at night and when performing Charged Attacks and Flash Attacks. Also comes with the Marvellous Sword Saint perk. | Defeat the Fugitive, Saizo Izuna, in Kanagawa. |
Commodore’s Revolver | Increases Ki Attack and Aerial Attack while reducing fall damage. Also comes with the Handgun’s Perfectionist perk. | Complete the mission, “Test of Friendship.” |
Best Armor Set and Set Bonuses
When discussing the best armor in the game, it’s likely Yasuke’s Armor. It’s in a cave on the Southeast side of Shiba near the coast. You need to defeat the Blue-Eyed Samurai (who will look pretty familiar to Nioh fans) to obtain all four pieces of the armor and the Nioh-ryu Style. Yasuke’s Armor has the Mighty Warrior set bonus and some good perks on top of high defense.
As for other armor sets, keep an eye out on these set bonuses.
Set Bonus | What it Does |
---|---|
Omnipresent Ninja | 15 percent increased enemy evasion with two pieces but also grants 13 percent more Assassination Attack and 15 percent Attack at max health at three pieces. Four pieces grant +2 Dexterity. |
Mighty Warrior | Reduces damage taken by 10 percent and Ki consumption when guarding with two pieces. Increases attack by 10 percent when health is low at three pieces and grants +2 Strength at four. |
Perfect Sharpshooter | This set is great for maximizing its rifle damage. The two-piece bonus reduces flinching when readying your sub-weapon. You can deal 7.5 percent more damage to a panicked enemy, and rifle headshots have a 21 percent chance to nullify helmets with three pieces. |
