Rune Factory fans had to wait almost a decade to finally get a new instalment in Marvelous’ long-running life-sim RPG franchise, but Rune Factory 5 seems to have been worth the wait, by and large. Appropriately enough, that’s also being reflected in its sales.
Marvelous revealed in its recent quarterly fiscal report that Rune Factory 5 has surpassed 500,000 units in worldwide shipments and digital sales, as of March 31. The game launched in Japan in May of 2021, before coming west earlier this year, in March. Marvelous hasn’t provided breakdown for which region saw the majority of the game’s sales, but given its release timeline, that would likely be Japan, especially since it sold over 100,000 units there in its first week alone.
Hopefully for the series and its fans, this will mean that the wait for the next mainline instalment won’t be a long one.
Rune Factory 5 is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
