Looks like development on Shenmue 3 is coming along well- according to Shenmue 3 producer Cedric Biscay, the game’s development has progressed enough that it is currently in a playable state. Of course, that does not mean that it is ready to be shown off to the public either, because even a game in a pre-Alpha state can be technically playable.
“Last week, I got the opportunity to enjoy a first playable testing version of a #shenmue3 stage. It’s enough to make me happy :)” Biscay tweeted. He also noted that Shenmue 3 would be even better than the first 2 titles, but that for newcomers to the franchise, it may be best to start out with Shenmue and Shenmue 2 regardless, before they jump into the new game.
Shenmue 3 was revived after the game’s development status being uncertain for over a decade via a publicly held Kickstarter, which was announced at Sony’s E3 conference. The Kickstarter managed to break all records. The game is due out on PS4 and PC… some day.
