Showdown Of The Screens: PS Vita LCD vs PS Vita OLED

LCD vs OLED

In this video, a gamer posted a side-by-side comparison of the screen quality for the old PS Vita, which features an OLED screen, and the new PS Vita model, which features an LCD screen.

Unfortunately due to the quality of the video, and the in-congruent positioning of the two handhelds, it’s difficult to grasp any truly noticeable difference. In fact, at first I had a hard time determining which was the LCD or the OLED screen (The black is the new LCD, and the white the old OLED).

The only real noticeable difference is in that of the color tone of the new PS Vita, which appears to be a bit darker. The definition still remains within though, which I suppose will translate to an optimal graphic experience.

But really, this test has been compromised due to unfavorable conditions. Not only are the screens at different angles, but the camera work is shoddy, and the viewpoint shakes and changes. Additionally, the games are loading at different speeds, so one can’t truly get a side-by-side comparison in most instances. Looks like we’ll have to keep on waiting to see if there’s any real improvement.
