Sony had a great outing with it’s PS4 announcement a couple of days back. They showed a lot of unexpected things like gameplay footage of PS4 games. No one really expected to show them off PS4 games in action. But they did that and gave the fans a good idea of what to expect from the console.
Traditionally, Sony’s console announcement have always been accompanied by a new Gran Turismo. They did that in E3 2005 when they revealed Gran Turismo HD along with the PlayStation 3.

So as you can see, Polyphony Digital have always revealed a new GT game along with a new PlayStation. But this time around, a new installment of Gran Turismo was not shown. This surprised a few fans out there. However Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment has said that it was only day one. “Working toward this event has been so much fun. I’ve never had this amount of speculation. Everyone has a list of 20 things they want to see at this event. This is just day one. We have more days ahead,” he said to GI.
One thing to be noted is that Polyphony Digital President, Kazunori Yamauchi appeared in one of the developer videos for the PS4. This may mean that they might be working on Gran Turismo 6.
