In some ‘that’s a name I haven’t heard in a damn long time’ news, it was announced last week that a remaster of the PC shooter, SiN, was in the works. That announcement came in conjunction with the release of SiN: Gold, which saw the return of the game and its expansion to PC. But it seems there’s much bigger things in the works for SiN, as a full remake is apparently also on the way.
The VP of 3D Realms, Frederik Schreiber, revealed that not only is a remaster of the infamous shooter in the works, but a full remake is as well. Nightdive Studios is working on the remaster, and it seems 3D Realms and Slipgate Ironworks will also be involved in the remake.
If you aren’t familiar with SiN, the game suffered several delays, and then released close to the legendary Half-Life, both of which lead to it underperforming. It was an interesting title that had a cyberpunk setting and several FPS gameplay innovations, and has lived on as something of a cult classic since its original 1998 release. The game is also very much a product of its time, and has a very, very ’90s vibe. It’ll be interesting to see what a full-on remake of the title will look like. If you’re curious about the original, SiN: Gold is available now for PC.
