UPDATE: Best Buy’s Christine Tan has gotten in touch with us and confirmed that the listing was made in error- therefore, drawing any conclusions from it is probably unwise. While Skyrim is likely to still be the remastered version on the Switch (albeit probably with a different subtitle than ‘Special Edition’ owing to its portability, we have not yet received any confirmation from Bethesda, so we are officially still in the dark.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Although it is pretty evident that the Switch will be getting the remaster of Skyrim instead of the Xbox 360/PS3 original game, there still has been some confusion regarding this issue, mostly owing to those people who refuse to believe this fact at all. Then, too, there is the question of mod support to consider- no matter what version of Skyrim the game gets, will it be supporting mods? Nintendo are famously controlling of content on their system, so this isn’t something you can see happening… right?
Well, according to the Best Buy Canada product page (since updated, apparently) (spotted by Gaming Target), the Switch version of the game will be the remastered version of Skyrim, and it will feature ‘PC like mod support.’ Now, to be fair, Best Buy Canada also uses the same descriptors for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Skyrim remastered, so this doesn’t tell us much about the extent of mod support on the Switch version of the game other than that they will be there at all.
Which, I suppose, is something- presuming this listing is true at all, that is.
