Sony Addresses The PS4 Blinking Light Error

TV compatibility issues seem to be at the heart of the problem

The PlayStation 4 launched on Friday, and while it is undoubtedly the smoothest console launch in recent memory, there were, like with any major hardware launch, a fair number of errors. Some of these, like PSN being hammered on all sides on launch day, were circumstantial. Others, like the wide range of hardware errors that were reported, were a bit more worrying.

According to Sony, the most common of these, which involves a blue light blinking on a console and no sound or video output, is basically caused by compatibility issues between your TV and your PlayStation 4. Other factors that might be causing the problem include the PS4 power supply and the PS4 hard drive.

Sony has assured users that less than 1% of all systems are actually affected by this error; however, it has also announced plans to investigate and potentially fix the issue, so hopefully this remains isolated to a few incidents at launch and doesn’t escalate into another PS2 DRE or Xbox 360 RROD.
