Sony Santa Monica not helping Team ICO with The Last Guardian

Well it looks like The Last Guardian is a PS4 game.

There was a rumour earlier that Sony Santa Monica, acclaimed creators of the God of War franchise, were helping Team ICO finish The Last Guardian as the game was stuck in development hell, is false apparently.

Tim Moss, director of technology at the studio, has confirmed to Eurogamer that he had no clue how that rumour got into the press. He has clarified the entire situation.

“I’m never really sure how that got in the press, because as far as I’m aware we’re not helping out with The Last Guardian,” he told the site.

“The only way you can say that is the knowledge that we contribute back to the central tech groups benefits The Last Guardian. So I’m guessing someone was slightly misquoted.”

Christer Ericson, who is the colleague of Tim Moss, explained that Sony first-party studios do share ideas with each other but it’s not more than that.

“The different Sony first-party teams do not necessarily actively work together, but we do communicate with each other,” he said.

“We tend to visit each other several times a year, and doing so we may exchange ideas. They’ve been here, and we’ve been there. We do ask each other how are you doing that, and just sometimes go over to provide feedback.”
