Sony is going to be making a splash at this year’s GDC, thanks to an invitation only event the company will be holding showing off its Playstation VR. When the gaming conference kicks off next month, Sony will be showing off all kinds of features the device has to offer, including a number of different demos. Engadget was one of the first to post the invitation on its website, kicking off talk about the showcase.
One has to wonder whether or not this event will include more than just some hands on demos. Sony still hasn’t announced an actual price for the PlayStation VR. We also don’t yet know when the tech is actually going to hit the market. The last time the company talked at all about the release date, it said the PlayStation VR was going to be released in the first half of 2016. That would mean the device is coming sometime later this spring. That would keep the release date for the tech sometime right around the other VR device release dates.
Perhaps this exclusive event, still not open to the public will be shedding some light on that particular question mark. We’ve already heard from people who believe that when the Sony Playstation VR device does finally launch, it’s going to be the thing that dominates the VR market. We’ll have to wait a while to see whether that’s true.
