The Last Guardian has sort of become an industry joke at this point. It was announced five years ago, and has been in development for nearly twice that length of time. Sony insists that the game is not canceled, but refuses to share any information about the project with us, outside of some isolated ‘it’s coming along well, guys.’
This is one of those ‘it’s coming along well, guys’ updates.
As Kotaku reports, PlayStation worldwide boss Shuehei Yoshida recently gave us an update on where the game stands:
“Development [of The Last Guardian] couldn’t be better,” he said, right before he followed it up with, “… That might be a bit of an exaggeration (laugh). We continue to work diligently on the game, so please look forward to it.”
I mean, yeah, that’s what we’ve been doing these last five or so years, dude. Kind of wish you’d just show us something, anything, already.
Oh well. There’s always E3.
