Sony are trying many new things with the PS5 in terms of hardware, and that’s something that’s being reflected in their whole aesthetic for next-gen as well. After years of black being the flagship colour of PlayStation consoles, accessories, and controls (with some exceptions, like PSVR), the PS5 is going for a mostly white colour theme.
What if you’re looking for different options though? Though it’s not always a guarantee, consoles and their accessories usually do give consumers options of several different colours to choose from- will that be the case with the PS5 as well? Apparently, that’s not something Sony are willing to talk about just yet.
Recently, Geoff Keighley gave his impressions on the DualSense after some hands-on time with the controller, following which he spoke with PlayStation’s worldwide market head, Eric Lempel. One of the things Keighley asked was whether the PS5 and the DualSense would come in multiple colours, to which Lempel said that Sony will be talking about that stuff “at some point” and remains focused on the PS5’s launch for now.
“We’ll talk about it at some point,” Lempel said. “Right now, as you mentioned, it’s a hard enough job to get the unit that we’ve showed out. But we’ll talk about it at some point.”
During his chat with Keighley, Lempel also assured that pre-orders for the PS5 won’t go live at a moment’s notice, and that Sony will let people know about them well in advance. You can read more on that through here.
The PS5 launches this Holiday season. Recently, reports emerged that Sony were doubling the console’s production.
