Space Pioneer Kickstarted: Real Cosmonauts Building Interstellar Space Sim

What does it take to explore space? Space Pioneer aims to find out.

In between the various off-beat platformers and murder mystery Mirror’s Edge homages, Kickstarter does have some interesting projects going on. This includes Space Enigma Studios’ Space Pioneer, a space sim which focuses on strategy and city building/management.

The twist? It’s being created by real world cosmonauts with a team of writers, artists and designers which means it’ll be fairly closer to the real world model of interstellar exploration than what, say, Call of Duty: Ghosts’ space levels have taught us. You’ll be managing resources, piloting a spaceship – which can be customized – researching different theories, constructing space stations and eventually terra-forming entire planets in your space quest.

Space Pioneer is currently slated to release on the Wii U, Linux, Mac and PC. You can check out the Kickstarter here, which has amassed $29,220 of its $150,000 crowd-funding goal with 17 days to go. Does the project appeal to you? Let us know in the comments or head on over to the project page to donate.
