More and more third parties have been coming around to the Nintendo Switch, thanks to its immense success, as well as the success of their games on the platform; however, one of the earliest supporters of the platform was Square Enix- and apparently, their involvement has been amply rewarded.
Speaking with EDGE magazine, (via Nintendo Life) Square Enix president and CEO Yosuke Matsuda revealed that the company’s games on the Switch have so far managed to do really well- and that more and more developers within Square Enix want to develop for Nintendo’s hybrid.
“[Our eShop titles] haven’t done badly! Obviously it only came out last March, so it hasn’t been long, but of all the publishers who are working on Switch we’ve done quite a few things. It’s a very attractive platform – there are a lot of people within the company that are looking to make games for Switch,” Matsuda said.
Hopefully, this manifests in the form of even more support for the system going forward- as of right now, Square Enix has some of the biggest games coming to the Switch lined up for release, including Octopath Traveller, The World Ends With You, and Dragon Quest 11– but hopefully, they don’t top there. Final Fantasy 12 on the Switch would be amazing!
