It’s hard to believe that in less than a week’s time we will see the launch of Google’s streaming service, Stadia. For a service that’s prepping itself to potentially being the future of the games industry, it seems to be decidedly muted, and when the launch lineup was announced, some people weren’t too enthused. Well, if you were one of those people, you might want to buckle in because there will be a lot lacking at said launch.
In a Reddit AMA, we got several details on the service’s launch. Unfortunately, it seems we got more about what the service will not have versus what it will. First of all, while the service will include an achievement system but will latch a dedicated UI until later on (though your games will record achievements in the background). Family sharing and buddy pass, two key things for Founder’s, will also not be there at launch. When these features will actually be available is not specified. You can check out the full AMA through here.
Stadia will launch on November 19th for all those who pre-ordered the Founder’s Pack and Premiere Edition. Stadia, as of now, will only work with the Chromecast Ultra in those editions.
