How Ubisoft handles its PC releases has been a source of annoyance for the PC audience for some time now, with the company having ditched Steam releases a while back and instead choosing to make its titles available only via the Epic Games Store and its own launcher, Ubisoft Connect. However, it seems that two major upcoming Ubisoft releases will be going even further with those restrictions.
Massive Entertainment’s upcoming megaton Star Wars Outlaws will seemingly be exclusive to Ubisoft Connect on PC when it launches next year. As spotted by ResetEra user spad3, Epic Games Store and (unsurprisingly) Steam aren’t mentioned as target platforms for the game on its official page on Ubisoft’s website.
Interesting, the same is also true for fellow upcoming Massive Entertainment-developed open world action-adventure title Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which also only mentions Ubisoft Connect for PC on its page.
Whether not releasing PC titles for Epic Games Store either is a new policy that Ubisoft has adopted going forward remains to be seen, though curiously enough, Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s page does specifically mention Epic Games Store, as does the page for The Crew Motorfest.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set to launch on December 7 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Star Wars Outlaws will launch for the same platforms sometime in 2024.
