Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Adventure Mode is Called World of Light, and It Looks Glorious

It’s basically a Super Smash Bros. RPG in the style of Infinity War.

Super Smash Bros. is the most iconic crossover in gaming without a doubt. And yet, the lore and character interaction implications that bringing together these dozens of characters for one grand adventure would imply are often ignored, because the series rarely gets a proper story or adventure mode.

Ultimate seems to be changing that, and going back to a Melee and Brawl style single player adventure mode. In today’s Super Smash Bros. Direct that aired this morning, Nintendo announced World of Light, a single player adventure mode for the game which basically turns it into a… a JRPG. Seriously. It’s got a full map and everything. They unveiled this with an Infinity War style trailer, with the full Nintendo universe going kaboom, and only Kirby surviving, as he sets out to restore light to the world. Oh, also, we got a vocal version of the game’s main theme, which is baller.

You can check out the trailer for yourself below. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on December 7.
